Periodontal disease, or gum disease, begins with plaque and debris buildup on the teeth, which ultimately destroys the attachment between teeth and gums. Our treatments begin with charting how well your gums are attached to your teeth. With these charts, we can determine if you need scaling and root planing to remove tartar, calculus, below the gum line and smooth rough areas on the root, where plaque tends to accumulate. If your gum disease is extensive, we may refer you to a qualified periodontist for further treatment.
