Fitchburg is a city in Dane County and a suburb of Madison. Fitchburg has a population of 20,500 and spans 34.8 square miles.

The first permanent residents of Fitchburg were brothers William, George, and Joseph Vroman, Dutch immigrants who came to the area to work on the state capital.
